Tesla Model Y named “California’s coolest product”
Melanie. An exciting first-of-its-kind competition is underway this morning. It’s called California’s Coolest Product Awards competition, where manufacturers highlight their most eye-catching and innovative products. Ananda Rochita of the California Manufacturers and Technology Association tells us about the competition, the rules and everything you need to know. Good morning. Thank you for being here. Thank you very much for having me. First of all, it is the first of its kind. How did the idea come about? As a result, California has 30,000 manufacturers employing approximately 1.3 million people. So we wanted to know who makes the coolest stuff. We don’t want to be the judge. We want the public to decide. You bought something. OK Let’s start on the right. Tell us what you have here. Yes. So this is fire green. They are based in Los Angeles. They also make clothes in California. She takes great pride in looking to Hollywood for inspiration. But this is all golf clothing. And it’s hard to find golf apparel that fits women. I mean, I’m a golfer. It’s a little difficult, but the fabrics are great and all of these products are made in California. We have country shooters here. They make their jerky in Southern California and it’s all made from grass-fed beef, some of which is also zero sugar and packed with protein. OK This is the blue diamond. Yes, a Sacramento landmark. Yes. They have been working here for over 100 years. They have a large presence in the Northern California area. Great company. This is one of the products that actually just got nominated, as nominations opened on Monday. Yes. OK We were nominated for it. OK And then we have Siemens Mobility here. They have a large presence in the south Sacramento area. They employ more than 2,000 people. So if you’ve seen a streetcar anywhere in the world, chances are it was made in South SAC. This is very exciting. well. Then we got the F 35 through Lockheed. They gave me a model to show that they have over 300 suppliers in California, which is more than Texas, Florida, New York and Connecticut combined. There are over 50,000 direct and indirect jobs in California alone, making F.SO a place for a lot of cool things to do. OK Please give us a timeline as nominations are now open. Yes, nominations are now open until next week. Until next Thursday. Afterwards, a referendum will take place and the companies will go head-to-head. Top sixteen, top eight, top four. We will announce the winners on October 6th. What’s the prize for the winner? The prize for the winner is bragging rights. You can also create a video with our CEO, LANCE Hastings. But they will be recognized at the California Production Conference at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel in Sacramento. Those are the first two, right? Yes. OK Yes. So many firsts. Yes. Excellent. OK Glad you’re here. and provide us with a website where people can get more information. Yes. Coolest thing, California internet company. Anyone can specify any product without being headquartered in California as long as you manufacture it in California. You just have to get Californians to make the product here. OK OK Melanie, you and I had been talking for a while before I came out. Tell me again what your favorite nut is. what is it? Do you have any special requirements? OK So I have the right to buy that jar of mustard, mustard almonds, almonds. I like mustard, but I had some spicy dill pickle almonds. Dill pickles, almonds. Take these. OK complete. Nut flakes in cookies are the best. OK Then you combine it with some beef jerky. Beef jerky. Oh my God. You will leave everything on the table. Okay, the good news is ANANDA left this to us so I can bring it to everyone. I appreciate it.
