The new IOS 18 control center has proven to be much more than a punctual design change. Apple has regularly added new capacities to control the center via software updates, and iOS 18.4 continues this trend considerably thanks to several upgrades.
# 1: new ambient musical controls
IOS 18.4 presents a brand new section of controls called Ambient Music. Here you will find the following four commands:
- Coldness
- Productivity
- Sleep
- Well-being
Each of them allows you to quickly trigger an Apple Music reading list which corresponds to the given mood. You can also configure your chosen control to read a different reading list by default, either one that you define yourself manually, or a recommended integrated.
Ambient music controls can be resized to take one, two or four locations inside the control center, and they can also be assigned to the action button or the iPhone locking screen.
# 2: visual intelligence and talk to Siri
In the new “Apple Intelligence and Siri” section renamed from the Catalog of the Control Center, there are two new options.
By joining the type “type in Siri”, you can now also add “Talk to Siri” and “Visual Intelligence” as new controls.
The first triggers Siri in voice mode, just like the lateral button. The latter allows an Apple Key camera function, which was once exclusive of the iPhone 16, also coming to the iPhone 15 Pro and 16th despite the lack of camera control. Visual intelligence makes a particularly pleasant action button assignment.
# 3: Updates to design the control center in iOS 18.4
Apple also has several design improvements included with iOS 18.4. So far, these changes include:
- Additional focus control the arrows from top to bottom
- Brightness cursor changing animations based on the level
- The volume cursor also dynamically animates
The change in focus clearly indicates that you can press the arrows to display your full range of focus modes. It is on the right side of the rocking, while the strike on the left side turns and deactivates the current development.
The entertainment of brightness and volume of iOS 18.4 show part of the fun design which flourishes by Apple. With the luminosity cursor, for example, you will see the sun become smaller and larger or larger and brighter depending on your brightness setting.
