During the weekend, all Gemini app users on Android and iOS have lost access to Flash 2.0 (experimental) thought. It was just a bug, and the model was restored today.
Google’s first reasoning model was published in December and updated for developers (Google AI Studio) in January before coming to the Gemini application in February as a “experimental” offer. It was updated for the last time in March with “better efficiency and speed”, access to applications (with the deleted secondary model) and the download of documents. Meanwhile, Gemini Advanced subscribers were able to use it with a 1 million token context window.
Saturday, all mobile users saw him disappear from the model selector, even if he remained available on gemini.google.com. Monday morning (PT), access is falling. You might see a “new” badge attached, but there was no model update. (In fact, he remains Gemini-2.0-Flash-Thinking-Exp-01-21 in AI Studio.)
Gemini 2.0 Flash remains the only stable model of the application, Flash 2.0 (experimental) thinking being the closest closest. It remains to be seen when or if Google will generally make it available in the light of Gemini 2.5 where the reflection is natively integrated. Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking (experimental) currently feeds in -depth research.
