The hidden spa an hour from Greater Manchester named among the UK’s best

Manchester Evening News

A new list has revealed the UK’s best spas and several are easily accessible from Greater Manchester. Four spas in the top 10 are within a short drive, but a few of them might surprise you.

Offering luxury spa experiences in the countryside, Grantley Hall and Rudding Park, both in Yorkshire, were shortlisted, placing fourth and ninth respectively. Nestled in the Yorkshire Dales, Grantley Hall is the Three Graces Spa where guests can enjoy treatments and access two swimming pools, thermal facilities and the Nordic Spa Garden. Wayne and Coleen Rooney have reportedly visited each other in the past.

Rudding Park in Harrogate offers a selection of treatments including massages, facials and mud treatments. Depending on the treatment, or for a separate fee, guests can access the Roof Top Spa which offers a range of hydrotherapy and thermal experiences.

The list, compiled by researchers at Betway, is based on a unique index calculated using each location’s number of hashtags and views on Instagram, as well as Tripadvisor rankings. Still, there was one spa on the list, located in a rather unique location.

The Titanic Hotel in Liverpool came fifth with Stobo Castle in the Scottish Borders. The Titanic Hotel is home to Maya Blue Wellness, hidden underground at Stanley Dock in an “underground sanctuary”. Guests can relax under the historic brick archways, swim in the underground hydrotherapy pool and choose from a selection of treatments.

Another surprising entry into the Top 10 is Lush Spa, also in Liverpool. In ninth place, the spa is located within the Church Street cosmetics store, the largest Lush store in the world, spread over four floors. Treatments include the aptly named “Hard Days Night Spa Treatment.”

Two spas ranked highest: Coworth Park in Ascot and Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire. Chewton Glen in Hampshire came in third place.
