The IOS Photos Application 18.4 adds new features to create your perfect configuration

iOS 18.4 is available now, and among its many features, there are easy -to -enter modifications in the Apple photos application which gives users more flexibility and options than before. Here are the details on the improvements in photos of iOS 18.4.

# 1: new filtering options

Whenever you consult a collection of photos and / or videos, you may have noticed that the photo application shows an icon in the lower left corner with two vertical arrows.

Behind this arrow icon, you will find various sorting, filter and view options.

In iOS 18.4, there are two new additions to the filter menu. You can now filter by:

  • Shared with you
  • Not in an album

Filters facilitate the search for all photos or videos that correspond to a specific description. So, in this case, you can filter to see only the elements that others have shared with you, or those who are not yet sorted in an album.

In addition, if you press the album button, then the three -point icon in the upper right corner, you will also see new filter options. These additions allow you to filter only to show the albums or show only files.

# 2: New album sorting option

Speaking of the album screen, iOS 18.4 now allows you to sort this view in a new way.

Joining the sorting existing by name and sorting by personalized control options, there is a third sorting method available for the screen of your album:

This will reorganize your albums and files to remove the most recently modified at the top.

The album screen has another change to note briefly: Grid and List has been renamed list the view and the key photo. This change does not make a functional difference, and for me, it reads as more confusing, so we do not know why Apple changes things.

# 3: Disable albums for confidentiality

There are some albums included by default in the photos application that you may or may not want visible for reasons of confidentiality.

No, I’m not talking about the album “Hidden”. Although this album certainly has its own implications in terms of confidentiality, I refer to two others:

  • Recently seen
  • Recently shared

As their name implies, these albums collect all the photos and videos that you have examined for the last time, or shared for the last time with someone else.

I assume that for most users, they will have no problem keeping these albums visible in the photo application.

But for all those who – for reasons of confidentiality or otherwise – are to deactivate them, iOS 18.4 adds a new parameter switch to do exactly that.

You can find this rocking by visiting the parameters ⇾ Applications ⇾ Photos ⇾ then scrolling down to find “show recently visualized and shared”. It is just below know where you can also deactivate the album “Hidden”.

In the application of redesigned photos, two of the main sections you will find are the utilities and the types of media.

  • Public services Contains collections such as favorites, hidden, duplicates, menu, receipts, imports and much more.
  • Types of media Includes videos, selfies, live photos, a portrait, panoramas and more.

Previously, these collections were listed in a fixed order which could not be modified.

Now in iOS 18.4, you will find a new “Edit” button inside each collection that allows you to reorganize the list to your exact taste.

One of these iOS 18.4 photos updates on your list of wishes? What other changes do you hope? Let us know in the comments.
