Google could have the existing word “Hey Google” with a new hot word “Hey Gemini” which launches Gemini Live.
About APK Insight: In this publication “APK Insight”, we have broken down the latest version of an application that Google downloaded on the Play Store. When we unpack these files (called APK, in the case of Android applications), we can see various lines of code in which refers to future possible features. Keep in mind that Google may or may not send these features, and our interpretation of what they may be imperfect. We will try to allow those who are closer to be finished, however, to show you what they look like in case they send. In this spirit, read the rest.
Google App Beta Version 16.7.21 contains channels that suggest that the two may exist independent of each other instead of replacing:
Light \ U201CHEY% 1 $ s \ U201D to talk about things with Gemini Live and \ U201CHEY Google \ U201D for actions and quick information by voice
This configuration / settings screen suggests that “Hey Google” will remain used for “quick actions and information by voice”. For the moment, he launches the superposition of the Gemini and it is not clear if this chain suggests that will change (in something like Google Search, which should obtain an AI mode).
Meanwhile, there is a second clear hot word that exists side by side to the existing one, with several other channels supporting this coexistence (ours of the accent): “
- \ U201CHEY Google \ U201D And \ U201CHEY% 1 $ s \ u201d require a vocal match to recognize you
- Find out more about the differences between \ u201chey% $ 2 S \ U201D And \ U201CHEY Google \ U201D
- Gemini can activate accidentally in different ways, as if there is a noise that looks like \ u201chey google \ u201d Or \ U201CHEY% $ 1 S \ U201D
- Without \ u201chey google \ u201d And \ u201chey% 1 $ s, \ u201d you can still get the help of gemini
The “% 1 $ s” which appears after “Hey” is a reserved space which is replaced at the time of execution. We assume that it will be “gemini”.
All together, this alleged hot word “Hey Gemini” will allow you to “talk about things with Gemini Live”.
Meanwhile, the new word to hot “is only available on certain mobile devices”. This probably means more recent devices, with this may be a reference to live Gemini with Astra.
Gemini will remain in mind to hear \ U201Chey Google, \ U201D \ U201Chey% 1 $ S, \ U201D and fast sentences like \ U201cStop \ U201D or \ U201CSNooze. \ U201D For the moment, \ U201CHEY% 1 $ S \ U201D is unique some mobile devices.
Google has two hot words is very interesting. A second would give users a faster way to launch Gemini Live, which exists today as a button next to the main experience of Gemini. Hopefully the possibility of launching the more general Gemini superposition with “Hey Google” remains.
