  • The RPCS3-Android emulator has now been updated with support for the Bluetooth controller.
  • This allows you to play PS3 games on your Android device using a mobile controller, Xbox Gamepad, etc.
  • This new update also adds the initial support for game files and solves several problems.

The RPCS3-Android emulator was published about a month ago, and he achieved the incredible feat of the execution of PlayStation 3 games on a smartphone. It is still at the start of development, but things have evolved very quickly. Now the developer has added the management of the Bluetooth controller to the application.

RPCS3 Android Version Alpha 6 was published on the developer github page Yesterday (March 24), and the most notable addition is the management of the Bluetooth controller. The application had a certain management of the USB-C gamepads and apparently supported certain PlayStation controllers, but this opens the door to a wide variety of mobile and console controllers.

I can confirm that my Xbox One controller worked very well when reading the apogee of the after-freer, with all the buttons automatically mapped. However, it seems that there is no way to remedy these keys or to deactivate the virtual superposition of the game game at the moment. But again, the application has only existed for about a month, and it is incredible that all the games take place at all.

This latest version also lays the basics of supporting game files, improves the virtual pavement and corrects various problems (including a black screen after installing games). It also comes after a major update last week brought a menu of parameters to the application. This menu allows you to adjust everything, from resolution and the frame limit to audio settings and more.

Anyway, we expect many more features to come to the emulator in the coming months. But you should not hold your breath if you hope to execute Metal Gear Solid 4 on your old budgetary phone, because PS3 emulation is quite demanding at the moment.
