Siri’s eagerly awaited overhaul, fueled by Apple Intelligence, was faced with a longer than expected development cycle. Unveiled for the first time at WWDC in June 2024 alongside iOS 18, the improved features of Siri, promising a more in -depth understanding of the context of users, the consciousness on the screen and the improved integration of applications, were initially planned for a subsequent update iOS 18.
However, as 2024 progressed, it has become clear that the ambitious scope of Apple’s intelligence required more refinement. Now Apple plans to publish its delayed features of Siri Apple Intelligence this fall, according to a new report The New York Times.
The company officially recognized a delay in a declaration Daringdeclaring that the features would unroll “in the coming year”.
Apple spokesperson Jacqueline Roy said the following:
“Siri helps our users find what they need and get things done quickly, and in the past six months, we have made Siri more conversational, introduces new features such as type to Siri and product knowledge, and added integration with Chatgpt. We also worked on a more personalized Siri, giving it more to come out in the coming year.”
Points of sale reports like Reuters Even indicated a possible thrust in 2026. This delay came from the complexities to ensure the reliability and the accuracy of the functionalities which are deeply immersed in the personal data of the users, as the internal reports of the technology operated in an incompatible manner.
Despite previous uncertainties, the expectation in force in April 2025 is that Siri’s improved capacities, as part of Apple Intelligence’s wider suite, will make its debut with the publication of iOS 19 this fall. This is aligned with the typical Apple release cycle for large iOS updates and provides the time necessary for subsequent development and rigorous tests.
What we can expect
The fundamental features of this reworked Siri include:
Personal context: Siri will learn from your emails, messages, files, photos and more to provide more relevant and proactive assistance. The demonstrated examples include the search for specific files or email from contacts, recall of recommendations and even access personal information such as passport numbers.
Consciousness on the screen: Siri may understand the content displayed on your screen, allowing intuitive actions such as adding an address from an SMS to contact or sending a photo currently consulted.
Deeper integration of the application: Siri will manage more complex and crossed tasks, such as moving files between applications, publishing and sending photos directly via voice, obtaining directions and sharing ETA with contacts and sending email projects.
An obstacle orchard
It should be noted that the development course was not without its challenges.
Apple previously presented these features considerably, even by presenting them in marketing supports which were then removed. This has led to frustration of users and even legal action.
Apple has been transparent on current development, adding non-liability clauses to iPhone 16 products pages and the overview of Apple’s intelligence, declaring that these Siri features “are in development and will be available with future software update”.
Tim Cook stressed that the company first underlines privacy. The philosophy of Apple’s AI revolves around a central principle: confidentiality as a fundamental human right.
Unlike competitors that use massive cloud data sets for AI processing, Apple prioritizes automatic learning on devices as much as possible. This ensures that user data remains secure and is processed locally on devices such as iPhones, iPads and Macs.
In the front to fall ’25
Apple Intelligence’s features, including improved SIRIs, should be exclusive to new iPhone models with the necessary treatment power, in particular the iPhone 15 Pro, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the iPhone 16 series (published in the fall 2024) and the next iPhone 17 series, scheduled for this fall.
Although the exact release date within the fall period remains officially announced in April 2025, the momentum suggests that iPhone users can expect a much smarter and integrated SIRI experience with the arrival of iOS 19.
