IOS 18 introduced a major overhaul to the control center on the iPhone and iPad. Here are the three checks that made a big difference for me over several months of use.
# 1: AirPod noise cancellation
Apple offers an integrated method to lower the cancellation of the airpods noise in the control center. But it’s not great.
When the AirPods are connected, you can press the volume cursor for a long time to display the current noise cancellation adjustment. Then, if you want to make a change, you have to press a few times to do it.
Replacement of these hassles, I use a simple shortcut control which automatically allows the noise cancellation mode by a single tap.
Everything you need is a basic shortcut like thisWith the action of the sound control mode set. Then add the shortcut control to control the center and configure it appropriately.
Now, every time I don’t know if my Airpods Pro 2The cancellation of the noise is activated, I simply touch my new control center button – no other necessary tap.
# 2: Vehicle movement benchmarks
One of the most remarkable iOS 18 additions, for me, is the movement signals of vehicles.
The new feature has corrected the transport sickness of my vehicle, and I light it via the control center each time I get into the car as a passenger.
Here is how the functionality works by apple::
Research shows that transport evil is generally caused by a sensory conflict between what a person sees and what he feels, which can prevent some users from comfortably using iPhone or iPad while driving in a moving vehicle . With vehicle movement indices, the animated points on the edges of the screen represent changes in the movement of the vehicle to help reduce sensory conflicts without interfering with the main content. Using sensors integrated into the iPhone and iPad, vehicle movement indices recognize when a user is in a moving vehicle and responds accordingly.
Vehicle movement signals were great on my iPhone, but I used it even more often with my iPad. Throughout the working day, I can jump into the car with my wife driving, open a control center in iPados and reach the control of the vehicle movement.
Small animated points – plus a cellular connection – do work on work a transparent experience.
# 3: Background sounds for ambient noise
Whether I work from my iPad in the car, or sit at home or in a coffee, ambient noise is a must.
There are many white noise -type applications on the app store, such as Portal Or Threaten. But iOS for years has also offered its own integrated ambient noises.
In iOS 18, two new “background sounds” were added, as is a dedicated control center rocking.
I particularly like the new fire sound and I light it and deactivate throughout the day with a quick tap in the control center.
