Apple Home is finally compatible with robot vacuum cleaners, thanks to several upgrades – Apple, Matter and Robot manufacturers. Apple published iOS 18.4 last week, which includes the management of robot gaps via the domestic application. Manufacturers of robot vacuum cleaners, such as Irobot and Roborock, have already published their firmware upgrades for their compatible material robots to support Apple Home.
The compatibility of the robot vacuum cleaner for Apple Home was delayed by month after being announced last year as a functionality with iOS 18. With iOS 18.4, however, robot vacuum cleaners are finally welcome to Apple Home. Compatibility allows iPhone users to control their robot vacuum cleaners via the domestic application instead of juggling several applications for different devices.

It is also easier to run robot vacuum cleaners, as you can use voice control and say: “Siri, clean the kitchen” to have your robot cleaned after preparing dinner. You can also ask Siri to start, stop and plan cleaning sessions. Many robot vacuum cleaners are already compatible with Amazon Alexa, which allows you to use voice control for controls, while a smaller number is compatible with Google Home. But this is the first time that Siri and Apple Home have been directly compatible (without using shortcuts).
Having your robot vacuum in the domestic application also means that you can include these devices in your HomeKit Automations. Your robot vacuum cleaners can interact with other devices from your home that were previously incompatible. For example, you can use Apple Home to create automation to run the vacuum cleaner when you leave the house or a routine that lights a specific intelligent light at 6 p.m. each day and your roomba starts to clean when this light lights up.

The release of question 1.4, which was released last November, makes it possible to support robots. Few robots on the market take care of the material, but those who do it should work with iOS 18.4 via Apple Home, unless the manufacturer must make an update of the firmware on the robot beforehand.
Irobot confirmed that the Roomba 10 Max ComboIts first robot compatible with matters, officially works with Apple Home. Likewise, Roborock has announced a major firmware update deploying Roborock models until April 10 to allow their material integration.

Although material 1.4 has added the robot vacuum support, you can continue to notice certain limits when you control your robot vacuum via a material controller, such as using the Apple Home application. The 1.4 material supports the addition of a robot emptiness as an appearance and allows you to start cleaning, plan cleaning, direct your robot to clean specific parts, cancel a session and vocal control.
