TL;DR

  • A credible leak suggests that the iPhone SE 4 will offer Dynamic Island, not a notched screen.
  • Mid-range Android phone users used to punch-hole displays might like Face ID, but not the larger cutout size.
  • Apple could release the iPhone SE 4 in March for less than $500.

For months, the iPhone SE 4 was rumored to look like an iPhone 14, complete with a notched screen – but that might not be the case. According to a new leak, Apple’s cheap smartphone could skip the notch and adopt the Dynamic Island instead. This could both attract and irritate indecisive Android users who are considering switching platforms.

Noted leaker Evan Blass common what appear to be official visual assets for the unreleased iPhone SE 4, iPad Air M3, and iPad 11. Notably, the iPhone SE 4 in the image features the Dynamic Island screen cutout rather than the notch mentioned earlier. As a result, the upcoming device might look more like an iPhone 15 than a 14.

Given that the next-generation iPhone SE could support Apple Intelligence benefits, adopt a USB-C port, have an edge-to-edge display, pack an iPhone 16 chip, and maintain a price under $500, Many budget-conscious Android users may consider switching. The device will almost objectively be more powerful and more upgradeable than similarly priced handsets from other brands.

Adding Dynamic Island to the equation can be a double-edged sword. On the one hand, the software/hardware hybrid hosts unparalleled Face ID sensors and offers convenient shortcuts and real-time data. On the other hand, it’s significantly more visible and distracting than the tiny punch-holes typically found in low-end Android phone screens.

Apple will likely announce the iPhone SE 4, iPad Air M3, and iPad 11 at a special media event in March. Alternatively, the company could reveal these products via press releases on its website.
