In the words of ESPN broadcaster Chris Berman in the 2014 film “Draft Day” starring Kevin Costner: “It’s Draft Day.”
The Chicago Bears are officially on the clock with the No. 1 overall pick, where they are presumed to select USC quarterback Caleb Williams after trading former No. 11 overall pick Justin Fields to the Steelers from Pittsburgh earlier this offseason.
After the No. 1 pick — which some draft experts have called the only, if not few, lock-in pick in this year’s draft — picks Nos. 2 through 32 on nights can go in any direction, which after all is the fun part of drafting, right?
Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy has moved up to No. 4 in mock drafts in recent weeks, making the former Wolverine gunslinger not only an intriguing pick, but also a major storyline heading into Thursday night’s draft.
Other top talents include LSU’s Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels, Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr., LSU’s Malik Nabers and Alabama EDGE rusher Dallas Turner, among others.
