THE Tokyo25 World Athletics Championships (Tokyo World Championships 25) calendarunveiled today, features 14 action-packed stadium sessions taking place from 13September 21, 2025 at Japan National Stadiumnot Tokyo.

WCH Tokyo 25 Schedule distributes the 49 disciplines (24 women’s events, 24 men’s events and one mixed event) through nine days of thrilling competition. The six road events will be spread over four on separate days and will all take place in the morning.

Day one begins with the women’s and men’s 35km walks, which start simultaneously at 8:00 a.m. JST. Day nine concludes with the men’s 4x100m relay final, an exciting grand finale.

WCH Tokyo 25 Schedule Features:

Five finals will take place on the first day, with multiple finals taking place each day of the Championships that will crown the world’s best.

Morning sessions will take place on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, and the total number of sessions has been reduced compared to previous World Championships, so that more events can be held in each session, ensuring consistent action throughout the championships.

Disciplines that generate high interest and high expectations for medals in Japan will be held mainly in the evening sessions to maximize the interest and enthusiasm of the audience in the stadium and throughout Japan.

Road races will take place in the mornings on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays – with start and finish lines for the marathon races at the national stadium.

World Athletics President Sebastian Coe said: “We are very pleased that the official schedule for the Tokyo 25 World Athletics Championships has been confirmed by the Council here in Paris, allowing pre-sales of tickets to begin immediately.

“We are thrilled to return to Tokyo with the biggest stars of our sport who will light up the iconic stadium for nine days of breathtaking competition. They are sure to delight fans in Japan and around the world with their breathtaking performances.

“Tokyo is one of the largest athletics stadiums in the world. Its main facilities are best-in-class. The Greater Tokyo Area, with a population of over 40 million, offers enormous growth opportunities for our sport.”
