Top Stories: iOS 18.4 released, new Airpods Max features, and more


We are only two months old from WWDC where we will have our first spots from iOS 19 and related updates, but this week has seen the public release of iOS 18.4 with a number of changes and improvements, including audio improvements for the USB-C AirPods Max.

This week also saw the first beta version of iOS 18.5, a new rumor on iOS 19 compatibility, and Apple’s work on haptic buttons that have not yet surfaced on the iPhone, so read below for all the details!

iOS 18.4 outing: here is brand new

Apple published this week iOS 18.4 to the general public, after more than a month of beta tests. Although Siri’s personalized features that were initially to make their debut in iOS 18.4 were delayed, the software update always includes a handful of new features and modifications for iPhones, so make sure to consult our brand new list.

Apple has also published iPados 18.4, MacOS 15.4, Watchos 11.4, TVOS 18.4, Visionos 2.4 and some other updates, and Keynote, IWork applications and pages have also received new features.

IOS 19 rumors would have a support for these iphones

A private account on X which precisely shared the details of the IOS 18 compatibility last year is back with a list of iPhone models that iOS 19 will support.

Unlike iOS 18, which has maintained compatibility with the same iPhone models which can run iOS 17, the next iOS 19 update should delete the support of three old iPhone models, so make sure to consult the list to see if the device you use may be affected.

The first iOS 19 beta should be available on June 9 and the update should be published to the general public in September.

Apple publishes a new firmware for AirPods Max with loss audio support

After a false alarm, Apple followed with the release of an update of the AirPods Max firmware which allows the management of lossless audio and ultra low audio on over-ear earpieces.

These features are only available on the new version of the AirPods Max with a USB-C port, with the old version of the headphones which still have the port of Lightning which unfortunately lacks on these free upgrades.

Apple would not have abandoned haptic buttons for a future iPhone

Apple still explores semiconductor buttons with haptic comments for future iPhones, according to information shared recently by a known leak.

It was largely reported that Apple intended to introduce semiconductor buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro models in 2023, but he canceled the plan at a late stadium. The buttons were again which the iPhone 16 Pro models, before being put aside indefinitely. They are not expected on the iPhone 17 pro models, but it seems that the project is still alive.

Brand new in the beta iOS 18.5 version

After the release of iOS 18.4 earlier this week, Apple has already passed the next version, with the first beta iOS 18.5 version already available for developers for tests. Until now, iOS 18.5 has only included some minor changes, as indicated in our brand new list.

iOS 18.5 could obtain new features and other changes in subsequent beta, but it is currently promising to be a minor update, while Apple begins to focus on iOS 19.
