Tornado watch issued for Marion

A tornado watch was issued for Marion County at 10:47 a.m. Wednesday and will be in effect until 5 p.m., according to AlertMarion.

The monitoring covers 11 counties in North Florida, according to the National Weather Service.

Weather conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes, according to the NWS.

Monitoring includes the Marion County cities of Anthony, Ocala, Ocala Airport and Weirsdale.
