While the owners of the telephones in the Galaxy S24 series had to bear a long wait for the first major upgrade of the Android operating system, it will probably be the opposite for those who use a Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 + Galaxy S25 Ultra.
We had access to an early UI 8 firmware (Android 16) for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and we decided to do so to see what type of changes and new features it will offer.
A UI 8 can be the most boring update of the IU Never
Unfortunately, in its current form, we are not sure that an IU 8 is even considered to be an upgrading of the operating system. A UI 8 on the Galaxy Z Flip 6, which we tested earlier, was a little more interesting, but only because it added some Galaxy S25 features that Samsung did not include in an IU 7.

On the Galaxy S25 Ultra, we see the new version of Quick Share, which now includes a reception tab that allows you to make your phone discover for the transfer of files from other devices as long as necessary.

Updated menu look of the gallery application
Regarding changes in the user interface, we see the new buttons surrounded in the context menu of the Gallery application. There are also some new colors of wallpaper.

Samsung also seems to have abandoned the need for the Galaxy Wearable application to twin the Galaxy Buds. On the existing versions of a user interface, if you connect to a galaxy goals pair via the Bluetooth menu, the Galaxy Wearable application opens automatically even if it is not necessary for matching. On a UI 8, Samsung seems to have fixed this nuisance.
A UI 8 is buggy on the ultra S25 at the moment
The firmware that we tested seems to be rather buggy. The biggest problem we have spotted is that the Live Bar notifications do not work, something that is not the case on an 8 user interface on the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Bogs are expected with non -final software, especially when Samsung has still not finished the deployment of the User interface update and the previous Android to most devices.
A general theme that we noticed when testing an 8 user interface on the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is that it is an extremely minor update. In fact, this can be the first time that a new major version of a user interface has almost exclusively only changes under the cap made by Google to the underlying Android operating system.

Samsung could have more changes and new development features, but our sources have told us that the official UI 8 update could start to deploy in the next three months, and if it is correct, then what we see on these first firmwares could be.
We will keep you up to date with information on the One UI 8 update for Galaxy smartphones and tablets and we hope to have something more exciting to share in the future, so stay attentive.
