What the DISC Personality Test Reveals About AI Models Like ChatGPT

  • The disc model is a workplace personality test that classifies behavior in four areas.
  • A record supplier has tested the most popular chatbots, including Chatgpt and Gemini.
  • Chatbots seem to have distinct personalities, which could have an impact on the dynamics of the workplace.

Openai’s chatpt is confident and positive, but when pushed to the extreme, it can be manipulative. Google Gemini are a good listener but may need a little encouragement to say what he really thinks.

It is according to Disc, a popular working personality test that some companies now use to help integrate AI models into their workforce.

The test was designed by the American psychologist William Moulton Marston, who, in the 1920s, was confronted with fundamental questions about human behavior.

Unlike his contemporaries, Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, who studied people with psychological disorders, Marston studied how people in good mental health interacted with others and their environments. He is also recognized for inventing a first version of the lie detector.

Marston finally concluded that the human condition spreads into four categories and, in a 1928 book, introduced the disc model of the disc. The disc represents domination, influence, stability and consciousness, and Marston considered them as the four “primary emotions” which stimulate human behavior.

The Marston model has since been formalized in evaluations now used by fortune companies 500, government agencies and universities. The questions, which often take the form of declarations, could be “I am motivated by the accomplishment and the authority” or “I am right most of the time”, where the participants respond according to their strength.

The candidates are finally awarded one of the 12 types according to their most dominant features. Someone who receives a D for “domination” could be described as direct and voluntary. Someone who obtains a DC for the “consciousness of domination” could be more meticulous and excel in critical thinking.

As companies accelerate the adoption of AI, workers use a generative AI to write emails, think about ideas and do research. They could see chatbots like Chatgpt as a competent but neutral resonance box for their thoughts. But these models may not be so neutral.

The online disk profile, a record supplier, has carried out the most popular AI chatbots. He found that the Openai chatgpt and Microsoft’s co -pilot are both of DI or “influence of domination”. These types are known to be affirmed, results in results and have a feeling of urgency. At worst, however, they can be manipulative.

Google Gemini and China depth are a combination of S, C and I and can be classified as types of “stability”, which are rarer. These types are more stable and consistent and tend to be good listeners. They excel in making others feel supported, but they also tend to avoid conflicts.

Some companies may want to consider how the dynamics of the workplace change when employees spend several hours a week converse with a favorable chatbot but opposed to conflicts alongside their teammates.

The management of teams suddenly becomes a bit like managing the distribution of Star Wars characters, according to Sarah Franklin, CEO of Lattice, a platform to manage the performance and commitment of employees.

“You have Princess Leia at the head of the rebellious command, and she must get Luke Skywalker, with R2-D2, the robot, with Han Solo, with Chewbacca, then you have C-3PO, another robot, and as, all must coordinate,” she told Business Insider. “This is really what we are doing right now. We must be able to collaborate together, but you must have mission control.”

The network is based on the disc as an internal assessment to “reduce conflicts and improve labor relations”. Some employees have already formed chatbots on their disc style, Mollie West Duffy, director of learning and development at Lattice, told BI by e-mail.

Duffy said employees can then ask these bots questions like: “I am a style C, working with a style D on an interfunctional project. How should I give the other person comments effectively, given their style?”

The platform does not take advantage of work assessment data on its 5,000 customers, notably Openai, Anthropic and E3, but Duffy said it was something that the network was considering for the future. Managers could possibly obtain tailor -made feedback advice depending on the record profiles of their direct reports. Or the platform may suggest more personalized growth areas for users.

“We must have the system where AI exists as an employee with transparency, responsibility and management,” said Franklin.
