The Bachelorette is back, and oh, how we’ve missed him. Thanks to the successful seasons of The Golden Bachelor And The single person (with Joey at the helm), the franchise has been booming lately, and based on the first episode of The Bachelorette (made available as a press preview), we’re heading into another must-see season, this time with Jenn Tran in the lead role.
“Jenn is someone who has talked about never being in love before, and this is an incredible opportunity for her,” host Jesse Palmer said. Charm“Usually with past tracks you know their story a lot better, so that’s going to make it a lot more exciting in some ways.”
Palmer is referring to the fact that the medical assistant student was eliminated just before his hometown dates in week seven of The single person. While Jenn has definitely come a long way, viewers haven’t had the chance to get to know her as well as the usual main characters. Of course, that’s all going to change this Monday night.
It’ll soon become clear why she was the perfect choice to lead the new season. Jenn is thriving as the Bachelorette, and she’s a lot of fun to watch with these guys, who think they’re always one step ahead of her (and they’re not). Palmer says there are several men you should keep an eye on this season, starting with Devin, who is one of the younger guys, “which naturally, I think, raises questions from some of the other guys. He’s very confident, extremely quick-witted, very smart and a good-looking guy, but is there other sides to him? That’s a big question.”
There’s also Sam M., who Palmer says “could be a force to be reckoned with in the house.” He’s not to be confused with Sam N., who Palmer says has never had a girlfriend before. “What will he be willing to share with Jenn? How will he act around the other guys? Is he jealous? I don’t know, but I guess we’ll find out.”
Palmer also advises to be wary of Marcus, who “has an incredible personal story. He’s lived 20 lives and I hope he’s not afraid to be vulnerable and share some of that story with Jenn because he’s truly unique.”
We’ll have lots more information and interviews throughout Jenn’s season, so bookmark this page for easy reference. (I was actually on set during Jenn’s trip, which took us to beautiful Auckland, New Zealand.)
Another show I highly recommend this week is Hulu’s new three-part docuseries, Mastermind: Think Like a KillerThis is a fascinating look at the personal and professional life of Ann Burgess, DNSc, who is sort of a real-life Olivia Benson. She is responsible for changing the way serial killers and kidnappers are portrayed, and the most impressive thing is that she did it at a time when women weren’t really in leadership positions at the FBI. Brain It wasn’t a documentary that captivated me as much, but Dr. Burgess has a fascinating story, and at 87, she’s not slowing down.
