Years ago, I remember liked the locking screen widgets on Android. But after the deletion of the functionality, I did not do it too Really Lack it. But, as everything in the technology seems to come back to itself, the locking screen widgets are now making a comeback.

After having made its debut on Pixel Tablet last year, Google confirmed this week that Android tablets and phones would obtain support for the locking screen widget with the QPR1 version of Android 16. The adjustment and the finish will vary from one brand to another (although An early overview To a method, it has already surfaced), but it will be good that this support has been officially prepared for Android, especially since many brands have implemented their own interpretation for some time.

Recently, I used the NOTHING (3A) Pro phone, which supports the locking screen widgets cooked in Nothing OS 3.0. But when I configured the locking screen, I couldn’t decide widgets that I would really like to use. Finally, I settled on the weather and the battery, and I also added a compass widget and a time zidget (while I started using the device in Barcelona while I was traveling for MWC). When I got home, I exchanged it for the “Time Time” widget because nothing else seemed so useful (and because, let’s be honest, this smiling little face is adorable). It is partly because the implementation of nothing means that I can only Add anything clean widgets to the lock screen. The same goes for Samsung, who only supports some of his own widgets for the locking screen of an IU 7.

This is something that I hope that Google’s indigenous adoption will repair. The Pixel tablet locking screen widgets are supported by mainly using anything, and it seems that the same will be true of this implementation on mobile devices.

But, at the same time, I don’t really know what I would use.

Overall, I found myself using widgets less and less in general, with Google to a glance widget covering the main things I need – the date, the weather and the calendar meetings – all in one place. The Android widgets “good” and convincing feel more difficult to find today, because there has been less emphasis on functionality (that Google tries to change), and less consistency too. Ironically, Google also discussed what is a good Android widget earlier this week.

So this is my question for you. What widgets do you want on the locking screen of your Android phone? What would you like to use who already exists, or what would you like to see developed? Let’s talk!
