A California lottery holder has won a historic $1.765 billion Powerball jackpot.
A ticket sold in California matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing, according to a press release from the lottery. The prize is estimated to be worth $1.765 billion, with a cash value of $774.1 million, making it the second-largest prize in Powerball history.
Powerball said in a news release that the jackpot ended up being larger than advertised due to final ticket sales.
The winner can choose between an annuity bonus of $1.765 billion or a one-time bonus of $774.1 million. Both amounts are pre-tax.
Two tickets sold in Arizona and Pennsylvania also matched all five white balls, increasing the $1 million prize to $2 million via the Power Play feature.
