After five long years, Apple TV has reached Android phones and tablets, providing a polished and Apple interface to each Android device. You can finally look at the frenzy Breakup On your Samsung smartphone (as you should have a lot), and if you are like me, you could prefer it there only on iPhone.
THE Apple TV App For Android, it turns out that it is a stripped version of the TV application of the iPhone and iPad, not to mention the content of the streaming services of partners or the possibility of buying or renting films . But it is this stripped approach that makes the Android application better than the iPhone counterpart, at least in my opinion. In the language of Dieter Rams“A good design is as little design as possible”.
When you open the Apple TV application on Android, the Apple TV + tab is the default option, showing your Apple TV + queue and the best TV and movies at the top. The only other content option is the additional Apple MLS Sports Streaming Module, which also gets its own separate tab.
On the iPhone and iPad, in the meantime, the TV application is actually much larger than Apple TV +. It offers additional subscription modules for different services such as Disney +, Video, Starz, Hulu, Peacock, etc. In addition, you can also use the application to rent or buy movies. This means that when you open the Apple TV application, you could be welcomed by a banner for a new film you wanted to see, thinking that it was added to Apple TV + for free. However, click on you will rather greet a large purchase button.
Because the Apple TV interface is incredibly simple and there are no sections that divide the services (except for the Apple), this can be confused quickly.

Compare this to Android, where the Apple TV application always has the same design language, the same polished interface and the same minimum multimedia player, but feels better to use because there is no distractions and no hoops jump.
On the iPhone or iPad application, I came to fear the additional step to navigate to the Apple TV + tab dedicated before looking for streaming content. On Android, this is already the default. Android also has a dedicated download tab, while on the iOS and iPados application, you must first go to the Library tab to see your downloads. Everything makes an additional step on the iPhone application.
I sincerely hope that Apple is inspired by these comments and works on the simplicity of the iPhone application, but given the nature of the product and all that the application does, it could be preferable to make the Apple application TV + A distinct entity in itself, a bit like the Apple TV application on Android.
The Apple TV application on Android is delivered with a free one week trial for Apple TV +, then it’s the same subscription at $ 9.99 / month as elsewhere. Although the application is fairly rich in functionality, it lacks feature, so you cannot simply broadcast content on a TV via your Android smartphone. Apart from that, however, everything I need is here, including my surveillance list, offline downloads and the image in the situation.
