In addition to the dynamic color for some of the screen clocks always on (AOD), Android 16 Beta 4 modifies the time in the status bar.
The police have changed, with most numbers – 1 and 2 – wider than before. However, the 0 is slightly narrower to my eye. (The screenshots below come from a pair of 9 units pixels.)
In addition, the spacing has been changed with a larger gap between 1 and 2. Everything is also just higher.
From this beta version, Google did not change the font / spacing of the battery percentage on the right. There are no other changes in the icons of the status bar.
Overall, everything seems a little wider in a change that you will certainly notice after updating, but the difference ultimately decreases.
It remains to be seen if this clock change will make its way to the Stable Android 16 outing in June. It is probably a modernization reader on the part of Google.
Overall, Android 16 Beta 4 was quite stable. After the launch of Thursday, I installed it on my daily pilot (Pixel 9A – to obtain 15 QPR2 features such as modes, the deletion of the globe icon when the keyboard is open, etc.) and I did not notice any problem. It’s a great time to join the beta version, with the beta 4.1 to come in May to deliver the last monthly safety fix and other bugs, as for the shortcuts with locking screen on certain devices.
